If you’ve been paying attention to local news lately, you may have noticed: chatter about school funding is a pretty big conversation here in the Roaring Fork Valley.
Across Colorado — and across the country — districts are facing rising costs, staffing shortages, and tighter budgets. It’s a complicated moment for public education.
In the RFV, those same conversations are happening too. In fact, a recent article in the Post Independent highlighted how many Colorado teachers are leaving the profession because of workload and pay challenges. You can read that story here if you’re curious.
But here’s a critical part of the story: Communities have the power to support their schools in meaningful ways.
That’s where organizations like the Carbondale Education Foundation come in.
We’re not here to replace school funding. We can’t do that and it isn’t the goal.
Instead, we help strengthen what’s already happening inside our classrooms. The projects that teachers dream up. The experiences that help students connect what they’re learning to the real world. The extra tools that can make a classroom run just a little bit better.
Sometimes those things are small, like a set of school supplies or a learning experience outside of the building. But when those moments happen across an entire community of schools, they add up quickly.
And when teachers feel supported, students feel it too. Everybody wins.
